    The RER B is being modernised through 2026: SNCF and RATP are renewing track, ballast and signalling in the central tunnel under Paris, and working on the CDG branch. The status box above is computed from today's date, and the table below lists every closure phase, which sections are affected and how to get around them.

    How to get around it

    Line 14 is free for the duration of the central closure (25 Jul – 16 Aug 2026) as a replacement for the RER B under Paris. Tap in and out without a ticket at any line 14 station.

    Métro line 4 is the second main reroute between Gare du Nord, Châtelet and Denfert-Rochereau.

    Going to CDG airport? Take Roissybus from Opéra, or Transilien K from Gare du Nord to Mitry-Claye. Allow at least an extra 45 minutes.

    No. These are planned modernisation works — ballast, track and signalling renewal, preparing the RER B for NExTEO (next-generation automatic train control). Nothing to do with a strike or a union action. Check live strike status →

    Yes — trains still run on the outer branches and terminate at Gare du Nord on surface platforms 32 and 33. But you cannot cross Paris on the RER B during the closure.

    Full service on the central section resumes on 17 August 2026. The CDG branch resumes normal service after 31 August 2026.
